Syllable Junkie
Syllable Junkie is a 50 poem collection that captures 35 years of my written verse, observations from a Canadian perspective that spans from Life to Death.
Its stories are largely governed by humour, even as it wades into heavier themes (pollution, climate, inequality, war, ADHD, limbo and loss). The natural world falters before us, though we are too busy enjoying our 'diminishing now' to truly consider the arduous, collective rejig required to engage in an honest global redirection.
Syllable Junkie includes several earnest pieces, all three classics that form the ‘Crap Trilogy’, a couple of nicely landed jabs to the anti-environmentalists, followed by a long overdue, steroidal left hook to Earth's original invasive species ~ Homo sapiens.

About the author
Jason was born the youngest son of a youngest son. He spent his youth chumming with his faithful pal – the natural world – mucking about in the dingle, trapping bugs and snakes, catching flies to feed spiders, frogging, fishing, biking, hunting small game, getting dirty and daydreaming.
As a young man he canoed the headwater states of the mighty Mississippi; crisscrossed the American Midwest; tramped the Redwoods, joined a truck convoy bound for Belize; hitchhiked the Dempster highway to Inuvik; rode the Greyhound Lines from Whitehorse to Miami hitting every terminal along the way; and travelled by train, bus, jeepney, ferry and Ford Fairmont from Xian to Uluru. Yet, the majority of his days have been spent roaming the province of Ontario, with several bouts living in South Korea and Canada’s North (Dawson City, Yukon).
Jason enjoys listening to the banjo, gangsta rap, Samul nori and classical music. He loves Korean cuisine and chocolate and has a palpable hatred for litterbugs. He currently resides in Ottawa with his darling wife and two spectacular children.
